About Me

My photo
I've been into dollhouse miniatures since the early 1990's now and when I realized how much I've learned during that time, I thought I'd make a blog to share my knowledge with others. I'm mostly auto-deduct, but always found help on the Internet and in specific books. The mini-world starts and ends with your own imagination, so let there be no limit. And never say : I CAN'T .... because you can, you just need to try and have the necessary know-how. And that's the main reason why I started this blog, because I wanna share what I know with newbies in the miniature world or anybody else who might be interested in sharing what I've learned so far. So, hopefully, I'll be able to provide some useful hints, tips and tricks for those of you out there just starting with this wonderful hobby

The MOUNTFIELD Dollhouse Interior .... 7) The Kitchen

Hi, so nice of you to be back ..... so, you've seen almost every room of my Mountfield Dollhouse, and today, least but not last, let's enter the kitchen.

The room was very small and it was quite a challenge to make it a kitchen. First I wanted to tear down the wall leading to the Dining Room and make it one big room. Then I wanted to leave out the door that leads to the hall, but since I had already made up my mind that I would leave the structure of the house as it was and not change anything, I just went for it .... and after moving around the furniture for several weeks, here's what it has become

Enjoy the tour πŸ‘»πŸ‘»

When I look at the end result here, I must say that many people probably have an even smaller kitchen and would probably be happy if they could have one like this.
OK, I do admit that I prefer a big spacious kitchen too, but nevertheless, I tried to get the best out of so little space and it didn't turn out so bad, didn't it ?

Well, doesn't this corner look a little messy ?? Hm Hm .... yep, I think it does
But everything you need is there, so let's not complain ... lol

Oh, take a look at the wine rack on the right ... I made the wine bottles and I'm really proud of myself, because that wasn't an easy job at all

This side looks a little less messy and after I painted the wall shelves and filled them,
everything just fell in place and suddenly the lack of space wasn't that important anymore.

These boxes are printables, which you can easily find around the Internet .... just print them on matt photo paper, that way they are much easier to handle when you start to fiddle with glue and scissors

So that was the tour of my Mountfield Dollhouse, I hope you enjoyed it and I hope to see you around again soon for my next projects

I will mostly post in the DIY section over the next few weeks and share a few tricks on how to make stuff for your dollhouses and miniature projects yourself.

Stay tuned ....

See ya

bye for now
Dany

  1. I don't think that the majority of doll's houses can claim a Big Enough kitchen especially if they are American kits because of the usual lack of a 4th wall. Dollhouse kitchens are further compromised because of all of the cute things that you want on display and are trying to fit in without everything looking like a jumble.
Tucking a washer under the stairs was a clever use of what is usually, wasted space, not to mention that it adds a lot of visual interest and atmosphere with all of the laundry products stacked on top, just as in Real Life.
Congratulations Dany, on making your Mountfield Dollhouse kitchen work and thank you for the house tour of all of the rooms- I enjoyed it!

    1. Hi Elozabeth
yep, you're right, the main problem is all the cute things we want on display in our mini kitchens and there's NEVER enough space πŸ˜‚
I loved the kitchen in my Grosvenor Hall Dollshouse, because there, the room I chose for the kitchen, was really big and I even had room for an island in the middle which I built out of scratch
So glad you enjoyed the tour
Hope to hear again from yoy soon
      Bye for now
