About Me

My photo
I've been into dollhouse miniatures since the early 1990's now and when I realized how much I've learned during that time, I thought I'd make a blog to share my knowledge with others. I'm mostly auto-deduct, but always found help on the Internet and in specific books. The mini-world starts and ends with your own imagination, so let there be no limit. And never say : I CAN'T .... because you can, you just need to try and have the necessary know-how. And that's the main reason why I started this blog, because I wanna share what I know with newbies in the miniature world or anybody else who might be interested in sharing what I've learned so far. So, hopefully, I'll be able to provide some useful hints, tips and tricks for those of you out there just starting with this wonderful hobby

The MOUNTFIELD Dollhouse Interior .... 6) The Hall

Hi there .... and here we are again, continuing my tour of the Mountfield Dollhouse

When I first got the house and opened all the packages (my favorite part, haha), I did put everything together, just holding it with tape, something I always do because it's the best way to see if no pieces are missing or maybe even damaged.

And of course it's allows you to really look at the structure of the house, to check the size of the rooms and to decide which room will be the kitchen, the dining room, etc.

I noticed that some rooms were a very good size in this house, other were quite small, especially the space for the kitchen. So I spend several weeks moving furniture around, trying to decide if maybe I should leave out a wall or two, maybe use another, bigger room as the kitchen, etc.

But let's not get ahead of ourselves, this post is supposed to be about the hall and I must say it is a very spacious room and it turned out exactly the way I imagined it :-)

😍😍😍

Ups, I just noticed that little stain on the ceiling when uploading the photo ..... hm, just don't look or at least pretend that you don't see it  πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜Š just look at the other side, where the cornice is still missing ..... again ..... ppfffff πŸ˜‡

This is the spacious entrance hall of the Mountfield Dollhouse. I think I changed the flooring at least 5 or 6 times, didn't glue it to the floor right away, because I know myself and I couldn't really decide if I should go with wooden flooring or tiles. I had several ideas of black and white tiling and when I had finally made up my mind, I chose the ones that I wanted right from the beginning. But now that I see the finished room, I'm really really happy with my choice. These tiles are elegant and many many styles of furniture can be mixed with them

The idea of putting a non-working fireplace in the hall, well, that one came from one of the many magazines I real about interior architecte and interior decoration (not miniature magazines). The fireplace is used strictly as decoration.

This sis another sofa I had made by Jill Lucas, a really fine miniature artist and on top of that, a really very nice lady. Found her on FB by the way.

I think this sofa really adds a great touch of elegance to my hall.
And I soooo love the animal print pattern.

Here's a better view at the decorational fireplace, which is non working (I know, I repeat myself sometimes, sorry) πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
I made these 2 candle holders and the candles of course, with just a few pieces of jewellry findings, bead caps and some color.
Oh, and don't you just love that striped wallpaper ..... gold and black
Once I had choses that wallpaper, I decided to paint the fireplace, which was initially white, because the white didn't look good at all on that wallpaper. So there it is : BLACK beauty.

On the opposite side, I used another wallpaper, but kept the color scheme of gold and black.
I painted the small table with gold and black too and just added a few things to it and voilΓ  :
another cute corner of my hall was finished

And to finish this post, a closer look at my "home-made" candle holders

NEXT UP ........ The Kitchen, so stay tuned

See ya  πŸ‘πŸ‘

  1. I love the idea of a fireplace in the main entry hall! It immediately gives a feeling of warmth and hospitality! :D

  2. True, it instantly gives that feeling of warmth when you enter the house! And it's a good thing I read so many magazines about interior design, because I get tons of ideas for my dollshouses from there!
