About Me

My photo
I've been into dollhouse miniatures since the early 1990's now and when I realized how much I've learned during that time, I thought I'd make a blog to share my knowledge with others. I'm mostly auto-deduct, but always found help on the Internet and in specific books. The mini-world starts and ends with your own imagination, so let there be no limit. And never say : I CAN'T .... because you can, you just need to try and have the necessary know-how. And that's the main reason why I started this blog, because I wanna share what I know with newbies in the miniature world or anybody else who might be interested in sharing what I've learned so far. So, hopefully, I'll be able to provide some useful hints, tips and tricks for those of you out there just starting with this wonderful hobby

THE MALIBU BEACH DOLLHOUSE

Hello my mini friends

I have been going through a few of my olders posts and realized that in never posted much about that beautiful dollhouse, the MALIBU BEACH, from the Dollshouse Emporium in the U.K.

So here are some pictures ... just browse through them and have fun ... there are lot's of DIY items and lots of ideas if you want to make a very modern dollhouse

Please feel free to get in touch should you have any questions and email me at :

dmzminiatures@gmail.com

have fun

I did something I never did before when I painted this dollhouse : I used the same color for the inside and outside for the entire house. I wasn't very convinced myself that this was a good idea, but in the end, it was a great thing.

For one, you can decorate your interior walls any way you like, without having to worry if everything goes with the pattern of the wallpaper etc.

I'd like to add that it as probably a better idea for a modern house like this one than for a house from a different period of time or so.

The sun lounge on top of the house turned out to be a room to chill, look at the ocean, read a good book or enjoy a glass of champagne

This is the rooftop terrace, with 2 wonderfuls modern chairs from ELFMINIATURES (check the LINKS section)

Another beautiful feature of this dollhouse is an additional smaller terrace adjacent to the bedroom.
I mean, come on, when your house is so close to the ocean that you can almost jump into it from your balcony, terraces and sun lounges are a must !!

The hall on the first floor with the stairs leading up to the sun lounge

The hall on the ground floor

Our lady of the house enjoying the view from her balcony as she comes home from work

The bedroom .... made almost everything myself, including the furniture
except of course for that beautiful exquisite chair
(Take a Seat Chairs by Raine)

The beside table ..... oh and by the way, I decided that although I wanted my dollhouse to have lights, I didn't want to have to wire everything, so I went for the easy part and used LED battery operated lights

2 reasons I can think of for NOT doing that again :
first, they are really expensive and
second, they don't really light up a room

😞😞😞

but this is of course just my personal opinion, so please feel free to give it a try, not having all these wires around is a very good point

I'm a shoe lover and all the woman living in my dollhouses are too, of course

I made these little pictures to hang on the walls in the bedroom, I think I found them on the Internet searching for shoe posters or something like that

Shoe boxes ..... no more comment needed πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

This is the dining room. I made the chairs and the room divider you see on the right, as well as the picture on the wall

Another beautiful chandelier with swarovski cristals

Dinner is ready

Another room divider I made, this one's in the living room on the ground floor, to seperate the room and the main entrance/stairs

The living room. What you see in the back on the right are just cut-outs from a wallpaper I had left over from a previous projects.
The cristal chandelier is from www.manhattandollhouse.com

I'm especially proud of the bathroom because I made most items myself, except for the toilet and bidet, the sinks and the tub

I even made the shower myself, lalala

The tub .... I just used a different paper for the outside, other than that I left it they wey I purchased it

I used self adhesive glossy paper to make all the furniture for the bathroom

Since I couldn't find a flat TV screen that I really liked, I decided to make one myself .... and of course the screen needed to show my all-time favourite TV Series (SEX AND THE CITY)
While I was on it, I made the DVD player, the surround systems with the speakers and even the table, using the self adhesive glossy paper again, just like the one for the furniture in the bathroom

Enjoying a glass of cognac while watching TV

The opposite side of the TV Room

The Kitchen .... I think I'm in love with this kitchen
πŸ’—πŸ’—πŸ’—πŸ’—
It's a 50/50 thing between purchased and DIY items.
Unfortunately for my wallet, I found the website ELFMINIATURES while searching for modern dollhouse furniture ..... haha ..... but they have such beautiful and perfect stuff, I just couldn't resist
But I also made lots of furniture myself

A better view of the left side of this kitchen

And this is the front corner of the kitchen with these fantastic Macintosh chairs

I hoped you enjoyed this little tour
See ya

I am going to have study each room, take notes...then apply some things to my houses. LOL! AWESOME! Thanks for sharing :-)
