About Me

My photo
I've been into dollhouse miniatures since the early 1990's now and when I realized how much I've learned during that time, I thought I'd make a blog to share my knowledge with others. I'm mostly auto-deduct, but always found help on the Internet and in specific books. The mini-world starts and ends with your own imagination, so let there be no limit. And never say : I CAN'T .... because you can, you just need to try and have the necessary know-how. And that's the main reason why I started this blog, because I wanna share what I know with newbies in the miniature world or anybody else who might be interested in sharing what I've learned so far. So, hopefully, I'll be able to provide some useful hints, tips and tricks for those of you out there just starting with this wonderful hobby

DIY Food (Polymer Clay) : Cakes, Cupcakes and more

Here's a closer view of my little cake, it has 5 layers (mix of chocolate and lemon)
and I tried to make it look special by adding these chocolate trims all around as well as the roses and leaves (which I also made myself)

... and of course, I had to make a cake stand for this one
I think I will post a tutorial on how I made these cake stand ....  let me know if you're interested

Here are some of my cookies, all nicely arranged on the baking tray.
It will be a nice addition to a dollhouse kitchen scene too,
but I did of course use them in my french bakery

My Cupcakes !
OK, OK, I need some more practice, but they aren't that bad either, are they ???

A few are arranged on the baking tray,
others on a cute little plate where I added some fresh fruit (I did not make these fruit canes !!)

Cupcakes (need some more practice there, I know)

Cakes and more

nicely displayed

chocolates and mini tarts

The cupcakes you see here were not made by me, I bought those, but I must say, allthough they are very pretty, I like my mini creations better, because they have more character

See ya soon again I hope

  2. I've made cakes, but not with polymer. I cannot make the flowers on the cake. I have tried paper roses and failed miserably. But I've done a decent enough job for my grand daughter.

  3. Hi Cathey
well, I do understand what you mean, better than you might think ..... it took me a very long time before I tried making anything with polymer clay. The flowers for the cakes are not that difficult. Check out this youtube video, it shows a very easy way to make the roses for the cake and once you know the trick, you can work from there

and for the paper roses, the easiest way is to punch out small circles and attach them to the stem one by one and what's really important here is the amount of glue you're using. Better go easy on the glue, the leser, the better
    have fun
